Client Spotlight | Kimber Guzik

A cool day in mid-February, client Kimber and her husband John went to Southern California to attempt the El Camino Real double. This double century ride covered 200 miles by bike and 8500 ft. of climbing that they had to complete in less than 17 hours. Not only did she complete it but finished in 15 hours and 56 minutes!

“I rode my first double century recently.
It was an amazing experience. I felt well prepared going in, as I had been doing
rides that were 140 miles in distance at
least a couple of times per month, but was worried about the climbing involved. The hills bothered me and Coach Jamii North knew that, so she invited me to join a "no drop" ride that would tackle Tunitas. well
it was easier this time than the first, and knowing that I could get up and over

Tunitas gave me the confidence that I
could handle any climbs this ride might
throw at me.”

After many complaints about her bike fit,
I decided we needed to go over it with a
fine tooth comb and figure out what was
not working for her. Making many changes,
small but significant I sent her off and well here is what she said; “Amazing, I rode well.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was finding the climbs a little easier (better positioning for breathing), and pedaling
over the miles, my legs actually
experienced less fatigue.”

Her next challenge is the Solvang Double, who is in? Congrats once again to Kimber for meeting a challenge head on and completing it in better form than she
thought she would! Keep on riding.
